Three Elms Care Home has recently created ties with the Warrington Wolves charity foundation which is supporting our residents to attend at-home games in a suitable, safe environment with the support of Wolves Foundation volunteers. The Foundation offers varied projects designed to enhance people’s lives within the community. Warrington has a rich rugby heritage, and we are delighted to have been offered this opportunity as many of our residents have been avid fans for years.

Through this program our residents have been supported to attend training sessions at the ground where they have observed players getting ready for their games and have had the opportunity to meet many of the players, all of whom were very kind and conversational.

We were apprehensive to see whether the residents enjoyed the activity as such a large and busy environment may have been daunting. The Warrington Wolves Foundation were fantastic in supporting us, by offering a quiet entrance to a room inside the ground, where residents could look at the memorabilia museum which was wondering in supporting reminiscence. Wheelchair access and seating were also made available to make this inclusive to all needs. All the volunteers were DBS checked, which put our minds at ease.

The residents have watched two rugby games and have absolutely loved the experience. We are extremely grateful to have been offered this opportunity by the Wolves Foundation and look forward to supporting the Warrington Wolves at more games soon.

Testimonials

“Through this program our residents have been supported to attend training sessions at the ground where they have observed payers getting ready for their games, and have had the opportunity to meet many of the players, all of whom were very kind and conversational. We’ve found this activity to be very inclusive, as we understand that even in a holistic setting such ours that residents may end up feeling isolated from the surrounding community. We hope that this activity will re-affirm those important social ties outside the home. So far we have received great feedback from both residents and family members. ”
