Easter Joy and Celebrations Across Minster Care Group

There is something truly special about Easter in a care home.

Across every Minster Care Group home this year, the season brought warmth, connection and a generous amount of chocolate. From handmade bonnets and egg hunts to live performances and community fundraising, our elderly residents, families, and staff came together to create memories that will last well beyond the bank holiday weekend.

Seasonal celebrations play a meaningful role in the well-being of elderly residents. We include familiar traditions that offer comfort and joy, while shared activities build a sense of belonging, reduce social isolation, and give every day a sense of occasion.

Bringing generations together this Easter

One of the most heart-warming themes across this year’s Easter celebrations was the power of intergenerational activities. Astbury Lodge, Holcroft Grange, Wealstone, welcomed younger visitors from pre-school and universities, whose presence brought a completely different energy to the homes.

At Astbury Lodge, Local preschoolers visited for a joint Easter egg hunt.

Holcroft Grange enjoyed an Easter fayre with a special visit from Easter bunny himself.

Chester University students sent handmade cards to residents at Wealstone.

Live entertainment and performances

Easter Sunday deserves a show.

Across Minster Care Group, our residents were treated to some truly memorable live entertainment to support the emotional and cognitive wellbeing of our residents throughout the year.

Elm Lodge enjoyed a fantastic Easter show.

At Grenville Court, Reverend Margaret led a peaceful church service for those who wished to mark the religious significance of Easter Sunday.

At Littleport Grange, the Residents Choir delivered a wonderful Easter morning performance that stopped everyone in their tracks.

A musical afternoon featuring hymns and a communal sing-along was followed by a festive quiz at The Lakes.

Residents at Roseway House enjoyed a full house at the Headly Hall Easter celebrations.

At Turnpike Court, had high energy through the weekend with Karaoke with residents and staff alike.

Easter fundraising and community spirit

Several homes went above and beyond the celebrations to raise money for the residents’ funds.

Eagle View hosted a highly successful Easter Fair, raising over £300 for the residents’ fund through arts, crafts, and a special visit from the Easter Bunny. Events like this make a direct and meaningful difference to the activities and experiences available to residents throughout the year.

Astbury Lodge also raised funds through Easter Bingo and a raffle, while Grenville Court’s record-breaking raffle drew impressive support from families

Easter crafts, food, and cherished traditions

For many residents, Easter is about the small, familiar things.

The smell of hot cross buns, the sight of chocolate eggs, a glass of wine with a good meal, and the satisfaction of making something with your hands. Across our homes, these simple traditions were celebrated beautifully.

Amberley House - Residents crafted beautiful Easter bonnets and made delicious chocolate nests.

Crossways - Wreath making and an Easter bonnet competition were the highlights

Florence Grogan House - Residents had a timeless celebration with a three-course Easter lunch, accompanied by a glass of wine and the classic Easter egg.

Freeland House - Hot cross buns and Easter Bingo set the tone for the day.

Garswood House - Music therapy, chocolate nest baking, and a competitive Easter bonnet parade made for a wonderfully varied day.

The Hawthorns - Residents worked hard in the lead-up to the weekend, decorating the home beautifully and making their own bonnets.

A Weekend of Smiles

At Abbeywell Court, a beautiful Easter photo session and a lively party with music created a warm, relaxed atmosphere that truly captured the spirit of the holiday.

Eagle View, the Easter fair was a resounding success, raising over £300 for the residents’ fund. Arts and crafts and the Easter Bunny made it a busy and rewarding weekend.

Kingfisher, sometimes the simplest traditions are the best. Residents at Kingfisher spent the weekend relaxing and enjoying their Easter chocolate eggs.

Special “Easter friends” dropped by to deliver treats and spend time chatting with residents, making for a sweet and social afternoon at Redhill.

A resident at The Rivers received a chocolate egg and shared a very happy Easter Sunday.
