Ashgrove Care Home is featured in the Grimsby Live for its recent transformation of an unused room into a vibrant new social hub for our residents.

The team recognised that many of our residents miss the simple joy of a pub visit, so they took up the wonderful initiative of bringing that experience to Ashgrove.

Special thanks to the team’s vision and hard work to make this possible. What once was a little-used room is now a cosy, welcoming space with a handmade “bar” (thanks to our talented maintenance man!), pub games, and a beer garden in the courtyard, perfect for sunny days.

The official launch is on 31st August when the home will be cutting the ribbon and enjoying a live performance. The residents have already been pooping in for a sneak peek and can’t wait to see the smiles this new space in the home will bring.

Testimonials

“For a lot of older people, what they miss, we have found, is just going to the pub. People have been really kind with donations of items for the social club. It’s not cost a lot but it looks really, really lovely. The doors lead out to the main courtyard garden, which is going to serve as our ‘beer’ garden on sunny days, and we’ve got a marquee up for a bit of shade. We are officially launching the social club on Saturday, August 31. There will be singer performing and we will cut a ribbon.”
