We are proud to celebrate a remarkable achievement at Freeland House, as Home Manager May Vidal-Payne was honoured as a finalist for the Long-Term Service Award at the Oxfordshire Care Awards 2025.
This prestigious recognition reflects not only May’s incredible 20-year journey in care, but also her unwavering dedication, compassion, and leadership within our home and local community.
May began her career in care over two decades ago as a carer. Since then, she has worked tirelessly to become the driving force behind Freeland House and The Lodge, always leading with empathy, integrity, and excellence.
Throughout her career, May has created a nurturing and inclusive environment where staff feel empowered, residents are respected and cherished, and families feel truly supported.
Her nomination for the Long-Term Service Award is a well-deserved tribute to a career built on passion, care, and resilience
“My mum was a resident at the lodge, Freeland House Care Home for almost a year. During her time here, she was well cared for and very happy. From the managers, office staff, activity organisers, nurses and carers, they all made Mum's time here the best it could be. The lodge itself is beautiful and Mum had a lovely room with nice views. Mum took part in many of the activities, jigsaws, bingo, listening to music and the TV but she especially liked the singers that came in and entertained them all. Mum enjoyed being out in the garden, going for walks around the village and a few trips to the local pub for a Guinness. We, as a family, could not have asked for Mum to have had better care. The compassion everyone showed when Mum died on 23rd August 2023 was very comforting to us all. I recommend the lodge 100%.”
