At Minster Care Group, we believe that exceptional care goes beyond meeting daily needs; it’s about creating meaningful experiences that enhance quality of life, wellbeing, and independence.

Our “Make a Wish” initiative is a unique addition to our care home lifestyle programme, designed to deliver truly person-centred care. Through this initiative, residents across our homes are encouraged to share personal wishes — from simple outings to nostalgic experiences and our dedicated teams bring them to life.

Ann’s Afternoon Tea:

Ann’s wish was for a classic afternoon out at the Red Telephone Box Tea Room. It was a lovely, traditional treat with fantastic food and a wonderful atmosphere that everyone thoroughly enjoyed.

Margaret’s Chippy Lunch:

Margaret chose a trip to the Green Lane Chippy Restaurant. There’s nothing quite like a proper fish and chip lunch, and the combination of great food and even better company made for a perfect day.

Frank’s Pub Trip:

Frank’s pick was a visit to The Cherry Tree Pub. It was the perfect spot for a relaxed lunch and a chance to soak up the local pub atmosphere, which Frank really enjoyed.

Carina's Shopping Fun

Carina wanted to go out for some shopping and lunch. We spent the afternoon shopping around while having a lunch on our way back.

Anne’s Quilting Corner:

Anne used to be a talented quilter, so her wish was to get back to her craft. With a little help from Michelle, she’s been working on a beautiful new quilt, bringing a beloved hobby back to life.

Sylvia’s Teddy Bear's Picnic:

Sylvia wished for a bit of childhood magic, so we organised a full Teddy Bear’s Picnic! We gathered plenty of furry friends to sit in a circle for a truly whimsical and fun party.

June’s Australian Adventure:

June had her heart set on Australia, so we brought the Outback to North Tyneside. We decorated the lounge with Aussie themes and enjoyed a special movie afternoon dedicated to life “down under.”

Brenda and Alan’s Tenerife Escape:

Brenda wanted to revisit her memories of Tenerife with Alan. We transformed her room into a beach paradise so they could enjoy a sunny, seaside atmosphere together right here at home.

Jean’s Pamper Day:

Jean’s wish was all about relaxation. She enjoyed a peaceful “pamper and movie” day, complete with a manicure and her favourite film to lift her spirits.

Connie’s Night at the Ballet:

Connie wished to see Swan Lake, so we brought the theatre to her. We had a special screening, complete with ballet cut-outs, so everyone could enjoy the grace of the performance together.

Betty’s Shopping Trip:

For Betty, there’s nothing like a bit of retail therapy! Her wish was a Friday shopping trip out on the town, enjoying the chance to browse the shops and pick out a few treats.

Why These Wishes Matter

The “Make a Wish” initiative is about so much more than just a nice afternoon; it is a vital part of how we support the wellbeing and independence of our residents. By giving everyone the opportunity to choose their own experiences, we ensure that their unique personalities and life stories remain at the heart of their care.
