Meet Hilda
At 99 years old, Hilda is a true inspiration to everyone at Holcroft Grange. Born in Leigh near Manchester, she attended Leigh Parish Church School and proudly joined the Leigh Girl Guides.
Hilda is the proud mother of three children – Barbara, Judith, and Peter. Her working life began at BICC (British Insulated Callender’s Cables), where she also met her late husband during evening secretarial classes. Their first date was at Leigh Cinema, where they watched Frank Sinatra – the start of a lifelong love story. Later, she worked as a secretary at Waterfields in Leigh.
Throughout her life, Hilda enjoyed walking, playing tennis, and cycling – often riding from Leigh to Culcheth every day for work. She also loved dancing at St. Joseph’s weekly dances and took great joy in sewing workshops, creating beautiful dresses for her daughters. Hilda is a wonderful example of living life to the fullest, and we are honoured to have her as part of our Holcroft Grange family.
Even today, Hilda remains incredibly active and joins in with all the fun activities at Holcroft Grange. Her words of wisdom are simple but powerful:

Team Member Spotlight
Our Employee of the Week is Stuart, who has been part of the Holcroft Grange team since April 2024.
Stuart is a qualified plumber with 20 years of experience in the nuclear industry. Since joining, he has become an invaluable member of the team, always going above and beyond with dedication and a smile. His improvements around the home have made a real difference for both residents and staff.
Although he is humble and prefers to stay out of the spotlight, we are proud to recognise Stuart’s hard work. He is a true superstar, and we are grateful for all that he does.
Special Moments
Life at Holcroft Grange is filled with laughter and shared experiences. Recently, residents and staff enjoyed a fun-filled Pyjamas Day.
The day included:

Blindfold challenges where residents guided staff with trust and teamwork

It was a joyful event that brought everyone together, reminding us of the importance of fun, friendship, and staying active.
