Welcome to Saffron House

Saffron House is a purpose-built residential home, situated in the village of Barwell in Leicester, which has a good local bus service to Leicester/Nuneaton/Coventry. The village also benefits from a local supermarket, community centre and several local pubs. Saffron House is purpose built comprising of 47 single en-suite rooms over two floors; each room comes furnished and with T.V and phone point, own furniture can be used in individuals rooms once discussed with me to ensure they are safe to use, while at Saffron House staff can arrange for doctors, nurses, opticians, chiropodist, hairdressers etc to visit whether this is the service users own or the ones used at Saffron House.

All Saffron House staff are fully trained to ensure the safety of service users at all times, our menu is comprehensive and has been checked by the local dietician. The chefs are happy to prepare alternatives if service users require this, regular quality surveys are sent out to service users/next-of- kin’s to ensure the highest standards are met, but anyone is welcome to come and speak to us with any ideas or concerns, we run an open door policy and with notice can arrange to be in the building to suit peoples busy life’s.

We at Saffron pride ourselves on the activities we offer for all service users and have a full time activities coordinator who is NAPA registered, activities range from one-to-ones, group activities, local outings, entertainers coming into the home twice a month, our activities are planned to help stimulate service users and family involvement is always encouraged and all ideas are welcome.

All the staff at Saffron House work hard to ensure that anyone staying with us will have their needs met, we are a home from home and nothing is too much trouble.

We had to put my father and mother in law in Saffron House for respite care after mother in law had a fall. They were both respected and treated with dignity from all members of staff. We and they found the staff very friendly and we could not fault the care that was provided to them during their four week stay. Rob H

Mum has been in Saffron House for six months with severe dementia. The care provided by the staff has been excellent and the facilities are very good. After a short stay in Saffron House my father passed away there in March 2016 and the end of life care provided by the staff was excellent. Joan

My mother has been in Saffron House for 18 months and I have always found the staff very very caring. When she had a fall they phoned me straight away. Before we set off in the ambulance they made sandwiches for us to take in case we were in there a long time. The entertainment is very good singers, animals, bingo etc. I cannot fault all of the staff and hope mum is happy there for many years to come. H(Daughter of Resident)

My mum has been living at Saffron House for 18 months. The carers and staff are wonderful. Very kind and caring and mum has been as happy as someone who has Alzheimer's can be. She enjoys the food and activities such as singers and entertainers, Pat the dog and church services. The home has experienced some management issues in the past but the home are working really hard to address these and things are going well. Lynn M (Daughter of Resident)

My mum suffers from dementia and her sight and learning are not good and also limited mobility. After visiting 5 homes we chose this one and have never regretted our choice. All our family have been welcomed by the staff whatever time we visit. The care my mums is given is excellent. She is always clean and comfy and cared for well medically. The food is excellent and her room clothes etc are lovely. Most importantly we are kept well informed by staff of how she is and any medical problems etc. Well done all of you for the excellent care given. Marilyn (Daughter of Resident)

All care is of a good standard and the staff are kind and caring, at times they do seem to have a lot of work for the amount of staff on duty. The rooms are comfortable but could do with decorating, new curtains and brighter overhead light. New flooring in the corridors and communal areas are much nicer. R B (Daughter of Resident)
