Gleavewood is an attractive two storey home, with a distinctive friendly atmosphere that is valued by residents and visitors alike. It has excellent facilities, is close to Weaverham village centre, the Community Centre and various churches.
Gleavewood has 30 single rooms, including two with en suite bathroom facilities. All rooms have television points.
One of the lounges is fitted with a hearing loop, a discreet device to improve sound reception and aid those with hearing difficulties. Gleavewood has two dining rooms for residents to choose from, or they can have their meals served in their room if they prefer. Residents and their visitors have use of a pleasant, colourful and well-kept garden with easy wheelchair access.
Additional services available to residents include a hairdresser who visits on a weekly basis, and newspaper or magazine deliveries which are arranged through a local newsagent. These are charged on a weekly basis as used.
The home has an activities co-ordinator who works with the care teams to facilitate a regular programme of activities that reflects residents’ interests. This currently includes bingo, exercise to music, coffee mornings, one-to-ones, church services, sing-a-longs, daily living activities and walks. Occasional events are also arranged such as fayres, entertainment, games, outings, tea dances, art and crafts, gardening, local fêtes and community organised entertainments.
Individual dietary requirements are catered for and seasonal menus are offered covering a wide variety of tastes, choices and preferences. Mealtimes are flexible and healthy snacks available throughout the day.
There are nearby Church of England and Catholic churches, and services including a communion service are held within the home on a monthly basis.
Gleavewood is well situated, close to Weaverham village centre. There are shops, a social club with bowling green, public houses, churches and a leisure club in the local area.
