Astbury Lodge is a purpose-built home set within spacious grounds approximately one mile from Ellesmere Port town centre. It caters for 41 residents and has one specialist household, The Poppies, which provides care for people with dementia.
Astbury Lodge has 40 single bedrooms and one double bedroom. We also have rooms with en-suite facilities. All rooms are comfortable and spacious and have television points.
All areas within Astbury Lodge are now smoke-free, including the lounges, each of which offers a different atmosphere. Several lounges offer the choice of a television, whilst others offer an opportunity to relax quietly, whilst maybe reading a book. There are several dining rooms where meals are served, or residents can opt to eat in their own rooms if they prefer. The rooms, dining rooms and lounges in The Poppies include special design features to compensate for disability and aid residents’ ability to find their way around easily. The garden to the rear of Astbury Lodge has been renovated by The Princes Trust, who chose Astbury Lodge for their community project. It benefits from bird feeders and a number of quiet areas where residents can sit whilst enjoying the elements. The front patio and side garden are great places to sit and unwind in the summer whilst enjoying the bird and plant life. The home's unique features also include an outside Bar with bench seating and a brick barbecue, raised flower beds which are conveniently waist-height for the residents, and raised allotment plots full of salad and vegetables,t a camping area with 8 berth tent and a new sensory garden.
A number of services are available to residents. For example, a hairdresser visits on a weekly basis; newspaper and magazine deliveries are arranged with a local newsagent. There is a separate charge for these services, which is charged to residents on a weekly basis. There is also a shop / trolley service is available for items such as greeting cards, confectionery and personal toiletries.
We have an activities co-ordinator who arranges a wide choice of activities, according to residents’ interests. These include weekly activities such as carpet bowls, bingo, quizzes, The Big Film and local outings within walking distance, as well as other events which take place monthly such as a mobile library, memory box, external entertainers and Sunshine Singers.
Astbury Lodge operates the 'Marvellous Mealtimes' initiative and aims to make meals as pleasant and positive an occasion as possible. We offer a varied and wholesome diet, and cater for any special dietary requirements. In addition, we cater for social events and special occasions and at the request of residents or their relatives, we organise larger parties such as big family celebrations.
A Church of England service is held monthly at Astbury Lodge and a Roman Catholic priest visits on request. There are a number of local churches within a five mile radius, which are attended by residents.
