Turnpike Court is a very popular residential home and well thought of in the community. It has an excellent, dedicated and qualified team of staff. Turnpike is a purpose-built home which offers a well-equipped, friendly environment, situated in the heart of a rural village, yet still close to local facilities and the market town centre of Sandbach.
There are 26 single rooms including ten with en-suite facilities. There are also two double rooms. All rooms have television points. There are a number of lounge areas around the building. At least one lounge is fitted with a hearing loop, a discreet device to improve sound reception and aid those with hearing difficulties. There is an activities room for the use of residents and a dedicated hairdressing salon for the visiting hairdresser. There is a large dining room for people to dine and socialise, and residents can also choose to eat in their own room if they prefer. There are pleasant gardens to relax in, including an enclosed central garden with pond and water feature. All facilities are wheelchair accessible.
Additional services available to residents include a hairdresser who visits once a week and newspaper and magazine deliveries which are arranged through a local newsagent. These services are charged on a weekly basis as used. There is also a shop trolley service for items such as greetings cards, toiletries, drinks and confectionery.
Regular activities at Turnpike Court include afternoon sessions of either bingo or cards or dominoes. There are regular musical evenings or afternoons with Karaoke or music for health which are very popular. Other events include musical entertainers, summer and Christmas fairs and barbecues in the summer. Various outings to coastal resorts or places of interest are arranged each year. Theatre visits are arranged in the winter to pantomime or music halls, dependent on residents’ interests.
Turnpike offers a good menu selection daily, which is served in a relaxed and sociable atmosphere. All residents are catered for according to their health needs. The residents enjoy a lovely Christmas Party each year with entertainment. Special birthdays are catered for with a party for the resident, their relatives and the other residents.
A local church visits once a month to enable the residents who wish to, to take communion. There is also a monthly Sunday service. Turnpike Court is close to a church and there are chapels in the nearby village should anyone wish to go out to worship. Various ministers visit the home as matter of course.
Turnpike Court is situated on the outskirts of the village of Elworth which is approximately half a mile from the town of Sandbach. The village has several small shops and directly across the road from the home is a small supermarket.
