Welcome to the The Cedars

The Cedars is a relatively small, purpose-built home approximately five minutes’ walk from the centre of Holmes Chapel village. The Cedars is very much a part of village life, with many residents from the immediate vicinity. Friends and family regularly pass through the home to visit our residents and there is a family feel between residents and the care team, who are well established and have worked in the home for many years. The home is set within beautiful grounds and has well established gardens for residents’ enjoyment.

There are 27 single bedrooms, including eight with en-suite facilities. All rooms have television points.  There are several pleasant lounge areas throughout the home, including facilities for residents to spend private time with their visitors. Upstairs there is a quiet lounge for residents to sit, relax and perhaps listen to the radio. There is a kitchen close by with tea making facilities. At least one lounge is fitted with a hearing loop, a discreet device to improve sound reception and aid those with hearing difficulties. There is a communal dining area or residents can choose to eat in one of the lounges or in their own room if they prefer. There are well established and colourful gardens for residents’ enjoyment. The gardens are well maintained and offer a patio seating area next to the conservatory. There is a greenhouse with home grown tomatoes and a summer house to enjoy the outdoors in comfort. Residents enjoy the colourful array of flowers, both in spring and summer, and watch the birds bathing in the ornate bird bath. The gardens are spacious and private which affords independence and fulfilment in a secure environment. All areas are wheelchair accessible.

Additional services available to residents include a hairdresser, who visits the home on a weekly basis, and newspaper and magazine deliveries which can be arranged through a local newsagent. These services are charged on a weekly basis as used. There is also a shop trolley service selling items such as greetings cards, toiletries, confectionery and soft drinks.

The Cedars organises a regular programme of activities designed to reflect residents’ interests and ensure a lively social calendar. These include a dominoes tournament with winner’s cup, quizzes, exercise, bingo, coffee mornings, karaoke, walks to village shops, visits to garden centres, and organised outings. Residents can also take part in gardening at the home.

The Cedars operates Marvellous Mealtimes initiative and aims to make meals as pleasant and positive an occasion as possible. We offer a varied and wholesome diet, and cater for any special dietary requirements. The chef also prepares cakes for special occasions.

There is a quiet lounge where Holy Communion is provided by the vicar from the local St Luke’s Church (Church of England) on a monthly basis. A Roman Catholic priest also visits every Sunday. Our activity co-ordinator will also accompany residents to local church services if they wish.

The Cedars is situated on a quiet road on a private housing estate, and enjoys an excellent situation in a tightly knit community. It is a five minute walk to the heart of the village. We have a small shopping area in the village which has a medical practice, chemist and a recently refurbished library. Local churches in the village include St Luke’s (Church of England), St Margaret’s (Catholic Church) and a Methodist Chapel. Local schools are close by and there are two public houses, where residents can enjoy pub lunches. We are also close to Chelford market and numerous garden centres. Holmes Chapel is well served by motorway links, as well as bus and rail routes. It is close to the National Trust estate of Tatton Park, and is on the doorstep of Buxton Hills and the Peak District.
