Welcome to Wealstone

Wealstone is situated in the Upton area of Chester and is a single storey home, laid out around an attractive courtyard area. It features a specialist 11-bed household, providing advanced support for older people with dementia. A friendly and experienced team work at the home, working hard to ensure residents enjoy a high quality of life and wellbeing.

There are 42 single rooms including seven with en suite facilities. All rooms have television points. Most of the bedrooms benefit from a private door providing access to a secure garden/patio area or the courtyard.

There are three lounge areas around the building. One of these is fitted with a hearing loop, a discreet device to improve sound reception and aid those with hearing difficulties. There is an activities room and a computer room for the use of residents. There is a large dining room for people to dine and socialise, but if preferred there are smaller dining areas to choose from. Residents can also choose to eat in their own room. There are pleasant gardens to relax in, which can be easily accessed by those residents requiring the use of a wheelchair. A large courtyard provides very pleasant seating areas which can be enjoyed by everyone. In this area, there are two raised flower beds, a sensory herb bed and a large pagoda.

Additional services available to residents include a hairdresser who visits twice a week, and newspaper and magazine deliveries which are arranged through a local newsagent. An aromatherapist will visit the home by appointment. These services are charged on a weekly basis as used. There is also a weekly shop trolley service for items such as greetings cards, toiletries, drinks and confectionery.

Events and activities are arranged on a regular basis at Wealstone and include entertainment such as vocal artists, musical instrument players and professional speakers on a range of topics. A mobile library visits monthly. We have regular clothes shows and we also arrange a game of bingo at least once a month. We attend local shows and fêtes in our community. We enjoy trips out in the warmer months on a canal boat, to Chester Zoo or just for a relaxing walk. We also celebrate special occasions throughout the year such as Easter and Bonfire night.

Wealstone offers residents seasonal menus on a five week cycle. Food is freshly cooked on the premises and menus are designed to offer a varied and balanced diet. All menus are displayed around the home and each day our cook will visit residents to discuss menu options. There is always an alternative if the options available are not suitable. Mealtimes are an important part of everyone’s day and we strive to make them a relaxed and sociable experience, in line with the Marvellous Mealtimes initiative. Breakfast includes choice of cereal, porridge, grapefruit segments, toast with accompaniments and a choice of cooked breakfast. A hot meal is served at lunchtime and a snack meal at teatime. Supper is also served with a range of hot and cold choices.

We strive to meet everybody’s religious needs. We have strong links with the local churches in the area and there are various church services that visit Wealstone on a weekly basis. We provide a private room for people to receive this service. Wealstone is situated in the residential area of Upton and there are good local amenities including a supermarket, coffee shop and bakery, library, medical centre and a children’s playground area. The home also enjoys strong links with local schools.
