Welcome to Parklands

Parklands is a purpose-built care home situated in friendly Poynton village. It is close to local shops and other amenities, such as the Civic Centre and local churches of all denominations.

Parklands has 40 single rooms. All rooms have television points. There are a number of pleasant lounge areas throughout the home and all are smoke free. One of the lounges is fitted with a hearing loop, a discreet device to improve sound reception and aid those with hearing difficulties. For those residents who wish to smoke the designated smoking area is at the rear of the building in the garden area.

Additional services available to residents include a hairdresser who visits once or twice per week, and newspaper and magazine deliveries, which are arranged through a local newsagent. These are charged on a weekly basis as used.

Activities at Parklands are organised by the activities co-ordinator with the involvement of the care teams. These are designed to match residents’ interests and include a range of pursuits, such as bingo, beetle, music bingo, quizzes, reminiscence, in-house afternoon tea, various entertainers, poetry reading, clothes sales, big screen cinema (in the winter), fundraisers; raffles, strawberry tea, tombola’s. There are also visits to the home from a volunteer who comes in once a week to read and chat to residents. The local high school have students who come in once a week in term time to play games and chat.

Parklands operate marvellous mealtime’s initiative, with employees making mealtimes a relaxed and enjoyable part of the day. A well balanced diet with various choices is on offer and special diets are catered for on an individual basis.

All religious denominations are recognised and links are maintained with a number of local churches, and religious groups and church representatives pay regular visits. A number of denominational services take place on a rotational basis. The local Methodist and Catholic churches will assist residents to attend their churches.

Parklands is situated in the heart of Poynton village, and enjoys an open and friendly atmosphere and relationships within the community. It is next door to a civic hall that holds various events such as brass bands. Also within easy walking distance are a library, various cafes, churches, the medical practice, and dentist.
